Job Description

The Systems Administrator will work as part of a small IT Infrastructure team with a primary focus on Windows and Linux server patching, Windows workstation patching, third party software patch management, workstation and server builds, and identity management through Microsoft Active Directory. This role operates within a federally regulated environment adhering to NERC CIP requirements. While prior NERC CIP experience is not required, experience in any compliance regulated IT environment (SOX, PCI DSS, HIPAA, etc.) is highly beneficial.
 
Primary Responsibilities

  • • Perform patching of Windows servers, Linux servers, and Windows workstations.
  • • Manage and deploy third party software updates.
  • • Build and configure Windows workstations and Windows/Linux servers.
  • • Administer Microsoft Active Directory, and Group Policy.
  • • Interpret vendor security advisories and assess applicability.
  • • Monitor system health, performance, and security.
  • • Troubleshoot OS, hardware, deployment, and access issues.
  • • Support installation and maintenance of enterprise software.
  • • Maintain documentation aligned with regulatory expectations.
  • • Support DNS, DHCP, LDAP, and other infrastructure technologies.
  • • Participate in change control and patch governance processes.
  • • Other responsibilities as needed within a smaller IT Infrastructure team

 

 

Required Skills & Experience

  • •    2–5 years of System Administrator experience in a Windows environment (Linux is a plus)
  • •    Strong Windows workstation and server administration background.
  • •    Attention to detail and organized
  • •    Working Linux server administration knowledge.
  • •    Experience with Group Policy and Active Directory.
  • •    Understanding of networking fundamentals (LAN/WAN/VPN, TCP/IP, WINS).
  • •    Experience with monitoring and compliance tools.
  • •    Strong communication skills
  • •    Experience in regulated IT environments is preferred (specific NERC-CIP experience a major plus)
