Job Description:

The Data / Database Architect will implement an enterprise wide Data Catalog/MDM solution covering both structured and unstructured data, and setup and configure the semantic layer and lineage needed for AI tools discovery/enablement.  The ideal candidate will bridge data engineering, governance, and AI consumption needs to ensure high-quality, well-documented data assets are available for analytics, machine learning, and generative AI use cases.

REQUIRED SKILLS

• 7+ years as an Enterprise Data Architect / Database Architect with MDM / Data Catalog implementation
• 4+ years of Data Modeling / DBA experience with Oracle and SQL Server
• Strong expertise with Microsoft Purview, Collibra, Alation, Unity Catalog or similar Data Catalog platforms
• 3+ years of AI/ML technologies and Semantic / Context Layer design and integration
• 3+ years of AWS & Azure cloud technologies, including AWS Data Lake
• Strong Data Governance, Metadata, Classification & Security experience
• Data Lineage, Integration & Transformation using Informatica, Fivetran, or similar tools
• API design for metadata harvesting, automation & event-driven integration
• Enterprise Conceptual, Logical & Physical Data Modeling
• Experience with ER/Studio
• Taxonomy, Ontology and Semantic Tagging
• Data Dictionaries, Business Glossaries and Metadata Management
• Catalog integration with BI and ETL/ELT pipelines
• Experience establishing continuous metadata ingestion, scanning and data quality processes
• Texas State Government experience
