Job Overview – Server Patch and Configuration Principal Engineer
This role is a senior-level infrastructure and platform engineering position focused on managing, securing, and optimizing enterprise server environments. The engineer will lead patch management, configuration control, and automation initiatives across both Windows and Linux (RHEL) platforms.
The primary objective is to ensure system stability, security, and compliance by implementing robust patching strategies, maintaining configuration standards, and automating operational processes using tools like PowerShell, Python, SCCM, Intune, and Ansible.
The role also involves deep expertise in core infrastructure services such as Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP, along with managing TLS certificates for secure communications. The engineer will troubleshoot complex cross-platform issues and collaborate with development teams using Git, GitHub, and Azure DevOps pipelines.
As a Principal Engineer / SME, this position requires strong leadership in multi-platform environments, performance tuning, and enterprise system design, along with mentoring teams and promoting best practices.
