Senior SQL DBA – Houston/Spring, TX (Local Candidates Only)

Location: Houston / Spring, Texas (Onsite)
Employment Type: Contract / Full-Time (specify if needed)

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior SQL Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, maintain, and optimize SQL Server environments. The ideal candidate will be a local professional with strong expertise in performance tuning, high availability, and database security.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer, monitor, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases
  • Perform database performance tuning and optimization
  • Implement and manage backup and recovery strategies
  • Configure and support High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions (e.g., Always On, clustering)
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database issues in production environments
  • Manage database security, access control, and compliance
  • Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams
  • Automate routine DBA tasks using scripts (T-SQL, PowerShell)
  • Perform database deployments, patches, and upgrades

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience as a SQL Server DBA
  • Strong expertise in SQL Server (2012/2016/2019/2022)
  • Experience with performance tuning and query optimization
  • Hands-on experience with HA/DR technologies (Always On Availability Groups, Log Shipping, Replication)
  • Strong knowledge of backup/recovery and disaster planning
  • Experience with Windows Server environments
  • Proficiency in T-SQL scripting
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools and automation
