Senior Data Modeler (Electric Utility)

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Data Modeler with a minimum of 10 years of professional experience in designing and managing enterprise-level data models for electric utility operations. The ideal candidate will have proven expertise in GE AEMS, MMS and other technologies commonly used in electricity companies for data manipulation, data modeling, data analysis, and ETL processes. This role ensures accurate, scalable, and efficient data structures to support mission-critical applications including SCADA, billing, and customer information systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement conceptual, logical, and physical data models for enterprise systems.
• Work extensively with GE AEMS systems and MMS for data integration and modeling.
• Develop and maintain ETL workflows for data extraction, transformation, and loading.
• Collaborate with database administrators and application teams to ensure data consistency and integrity.
• Optimize data models for performance, scalability, and compliance with industry standards.
• Perform data analysis to support business intelligence and reporting needs.
• Document data models, metadata, and data dictionaries for internal and external stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and data governance policies.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior data professionals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in data modeling and data architecture roles.
• Proven expertise in working with GE AEMS and GE MMS
• Strong proficiency in SQL, data modeling tools (e.g., ERwin, PowerDesigner), and ETL frameworks.
• Experience with relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and time-series databases (OSIsoft PI, InfluxDB).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with electric utility operations and SCADA systems.
• Knowledge of big data platforms (Hadoop, Spark) and cloud-based data solutions.
• Experience with data governance, data quality, and master data management.
• Ability to manage large-scale projects and cross-functional teams.
