Senior BI Developer- (Government Experience Required)

Job Role: Senior BI Developer – State Health Analytics Reporting Platform (SHARP)
Location: Hybrid (3 days onsite / 2 days remote – Candidates must be local to the Austin, Texas area)

This role supports the State Health Analytics Reporting Platform (SHARP) by designing, developing, and publishing enterprise dashboards and reports using Tableau and/or Power BI based on defined business requirements. The Senior BI Developer will translate program and operational needs into actionable, validated data visualizations while collaborating closely with technical teams and program stakeholders to promote enterprise-wide reporting solutions.

The position requires strong expertise in business intelligence development, SQL, large-scale data environments, and ETL processes. Experience with Informatica ETL tools is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities (Including but not limited to)

• Design, develop, and publish dashboards and reports using Tableau and/or Power BI aligned with business requirements.
• Translate business and program needs into intuitive, actionable data visualizations and reporting solutions.
• Review and evaluate existing business systems and user requirements to design solutions aligned with strategic and operational objectives.
• Validate reporting accuracy, conduct testing, and ensure dashboards function as intended prior to deployment.
• Identify process improvement opportunities and apply industry-standard methodologies to reengineer workflows using technology solutions.
• Document user requirements, system functionality, and reporting logic clearly and comprehensively.
• Perform solution analysis including cost-benefit analysis, ROI assessments, and build vs. buy evaluations.
• Work with large-scale enterprise datasets across Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, Snowflake, or similar platforms.
• Develop and support ETL processes, particularly using Informatica, to transform and prepare data for reporting pipelines.
• Collaborate with cross-functional technical and program teams to publish, promote, and support enterprise reporting assets.
• Support data-driven decision-making environments through strong SQL-based data analysis and validation.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience creating reports and performing data analysis using Tableau, Power BI, Cognos, Business Objects, QlikView, or similar BI tools.
• Proven ability to translate business requirements into validated dashboards and enterprise reporting solutions.
• Strong SQL experience supporting enterprise reporting and analytics environments.
• Demonstrated experience working with large-scale datasets and complex reporting structures.

Preferred Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience working with very large-scale datasets in Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, Snowflake, or similar environments.
• 2+ years of experience using Informatica ETL tools to support data transformation and reporting pipelines.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience developing dashboards and reports in Tableau.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience developing dashboards and reports in Power BI.
• Experience supporting a Health and Human Services (HHS) agency or similar public sector organization.
