Role Overview
As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will be a key contributor to the 10-4 App—a high-growth mobility platform built for owner-operator semi-truck drivers. You will own backend microservices end-to-end, from system design to cloud deployment and production support.
Your focus will be on platform reliability, scalability, and security, ensuring 99.99% uptime for mission-critical fueling and payment workflows while enabling rapid feature growth for an expanding user base.

Key Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain high-performance backend microservices using Java (Spring Boot) and Python
Lead the migration of legacy SOAP services to RESTful APIs and refactor high-concurrency Python services into thread-safe Java services
Improve observability and monitoring by integrating with Grafana, standardizing distributed tracing, and closing visibility gaps
Implement rate limiting and bidirectional throttling through API Gateway (Apigee migration)
Ensure PCI 4.0 compliance using secure tokenization and feature-flagging strategies
Strengthen platform security and fraud prevention using 3D Secure (3DS) and Okta authentication
Own and optimize CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions
Manage backend services in AWS ECS, including autoscaling, IP allocation, and multi-AZ deployments for high availability and disaster recovery
Provide production hyper-care support, troubleshooting complex issues such as circuit-breaker failures, DNS caching errors, and concurrency bottlenecks
Enhance the Admin Hub with detailed error reporting and self-service tools to reduce customer support dependency

Professional Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience
8–10 years of professional software engineering experience
Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design
Proven experience across the full SDLC, including testing (Robot Framework, LambdaTest) and cloud deployment
Expertise in diagnosing issues in high-concurrency systems (async timeouts, thread locking, connection pool saturation)
Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments, contributing to backlog refinement and sprint planning
Ability to make technical decisions with a customer-first mindset, reducing friction in onboarding and payment flows
