About the role:

We are partnering with an early-stage technology company building production-grade AI workflow and automation software for the commercial real estate industry.

The platform leverages AI agents to automate complex workflows such as document generation, financial analysis, document processing, browser automation, and client-specific business processes.

 We're seeking a Senior AI Engineer to work directly with the founder as one of the first engineering hires.

Target Candidate Profile

• This search is specifically for a hands-on Senior AI Engineer who has built and maintained production AI applications used by paying customers. Candidates whose AI experience is limited to personal projects, hackathons, prototypes, or AI coding assistants should not be submitted.
• The ideal candidate has owned AI systems from architecture through deployment, monitoring, and ongoing maintenance in a production environment.
• Strong preference for candidates coming from AI startups or companies where they were responsible for shipping AI features quickly and reliably.

Must-Have Experience (Screen-Out Criteria)

• Expert-level Python backend development. Minimum 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• At least 2+ years building production applications using Large Language Models or AI agents.
• Strong AWS experience, including designing and operating production cloud infrastructure.
• Demonstrated experience with LLM orchestration, prompt engineering, evaluation, and improving reliability in production.
• Experience deploying, monitoring, debugging, and optimizing AI systems after launch.

Preferred Technical Background

Candidates with experience in several of the following areas should be prioritized:

• AWS Bedrock
• Anthropic Claude
• Multi-agent AI systems
• Tool calling / function calling
• Structured outputs and JSON schema validation
• AI evaluation frameworks and observability
• Browser automation (Playwright)
• Serverless AWS architecture (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3)
• Financial document processing or workflow automation

Strong Signals

Prioritize candidates who can clearly describe:

• Production AI systems currently serving real users or enterprise customers.
• System architecture decisions they personally made.
• AI latency, cost optimization, and scalability improvements.
• Guardrails, hallucination reduction, prompt versioning, and evaluation strategies.
• Ownership of projects from design through production operations.
• Experience working directly with founders or executive stakeholders.
