Job Description

Title: Oracle DBA (AWS Migration Support)
Location: Raleigh, NC (Hybrid strongly preferred) | Potentially Remote

Key Responsibilities
** Provide Oracle DBA support throughout a large‑scale migration initiative
Focus on:
** Database performance monitoring and tuning
** Capacity planning and performance benchmarking
Create and manage:
** Database schemas
** Configuration changes
** User roles and permissions
** Generate and analyze AWR reports and other performance diagnostics
** Perform ad hoc DBA work as needed to support migration and stabilization
Partner closely with:
** The AWS Migration Engineer (DMS owner)
** An existing DBA focused on data modeling and domain expertise
** Establish performance baselines pre‑migration and validate improvements post‑migration
** Support troubleshooting during migration testing, cutovers, and post‑go‑live

 

Required Qualifications
** Strong hands‑on experience as an Oracle DBA (Oracle 19c preferred)
Deep expertise in:
** Performance tuning and monitoring
** AWR reports
** Schema management and configuration changes
** Experience supporting large databases (multi‑terabyte scale)
** Familiarity with on‑prem Oracle environments and readiness to support cloud migration efforts
** Ability to collaborate closely with engineers and application teams

Nice to Have
** Exposure to AWS environments (even if Oracle is still on‑prem today)
** Experience supporting or partnering on database migrations
** Basic scripting or coding experience (Python, SQL, shell scripting, etc.)
