Job Description

Key Responsibilities

• Manage DB2 objects such as databases, tablespaces, tables, and indexes.
• Execute DB2 commands including STOP/START, DISPLAY, and thread cancel/termination.
• Run DB2 utilities such as REORG, RUNSTATS, COPY/RECOVER, LOAD/UNLOAD, and REPAIR.
• Perform BSDS updates using DSNJU003 and DSNJU004 utilities.
• Support DB2 upgrades, migrations, and SMP/E maintenance activities.
• Utilize ISV tools such as BMC, CA, and IBM utilities for DB2 management.
• Monitor and tune DB2 performance using catalog tables and performance tools.
• Troubleshoot DB2 database issues and application-related problems.
• Manage user access including grants, privileges, and database security.
• Follow ITIL processes including Incident, Problem, Change, and Configuration Management.
• Support Disaster Recovery (DR) planning, testing, and execution.

Required Skills

• 4–6 years of hands-on experience as a Mainframe DB2 DBA or System Programmer.
• Strong knowledge of Mainframe architecture and DB2 database systems.
• Proficiency in JCL and z/OS operations.
• Hands-on experience with DB2 utilities and SMP/E maintenance.
• Experience working with BMC or CA DB2 tools.
• Strong SQL knowledge and DB2 catalog analysis skills.
• Ability to handle incident management and production support activities.
• Good collaboration and communication skills for cross-team coordination.
