Mainframe Developer

Key Responsibilities
Application Development: Design, code, and test complex mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, CICS, and DB2/VSAM.
System Maintenance: Modify existing applications, troubleshoot errors, and optimize code for performance and efficiency.
Technical Documentation: Create technical specifications, documentation, and user guides.
Testing and Quality Assurance: Develop and execute unit, integration, and regression tests.
Collaboration: Work with cross-functional IT teams to align system changes with business requirements and participate in code reviews.
Support: Provide production support, sometimes including on-call rotation (pager duty). Velvet Jobs

Required Skills and Qualifications
Languages: Strong proficiency in COBOL and JCL is mandatory. Knowledge of PL/I, REXX, or Assembler is often required.
Tools/Database: Experience with DB2, IMS, CICS, and VSAM.
Environment: Proficient in IBM z/OS environment and TSO/ISPF.
Methodologies: Knowledge of Agile or DevOps methodologies in a mainframe context is increasingly required.
