Mainframe Developer

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, enhance, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, and VSAM
• Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications
• Perform coding, testing, debugging, and documentation of programs
• Support batch processing and resolve production issues
• Work with CICS for online transaction processing (if applicable)
• Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including business analysts, QA, and support teams
• Participate in system integration testing and user acceptance testing (UAT)
• Optimize performance and ensure system reliability

Required Skills:

• Strong experience in COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM
• Knowledge of CICS (for online applications)
• Experience with mainframe utilities (SORT, IDCAMS, etc.)
• Understanding of batch processing and scheduling tools (e.g., Control-M, CA7)
• Familiarity with SDLC methodologies (Agile/Waterfall)
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with IMS DB/DC
• Knowledge of REXX or CLIST scripting
• Exposure to DevOps tools or modernization initiatives
• Experience in domains like Banking, Insurance, or Finance
