Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced Kong API Developer to design, build, and manage scalable API solutions using the Kong API Gateway platform. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in API development, gateway configuration, microservices architecture, and cloud-based deployments. You will play a key role in securing, optimizing, and managing APIs across distributed systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and manage APIs using Kong API Gateway.
• Configure and maintain API gateways, plugins, and routing rules within Kong.
• Implement authentication, authorization, and security policies such as OAuth2, JWT, and API keys.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Integrate Kong with backend services and cloud platforms.
• Monitor API performance and troubleshoot issues related to API traffic and latency.
• Implement rate limiting, throttling, logging, and monitoring within Kong.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams for CI/CD pipeline integration and automated deployments.
• Ensure APIs meet scalability, reliability, and security standards.
• Document API specifications and gateway configurations.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in API development and integration.
• Strong experience with Kong API Gateway (Open Source or Enterprise).
• Experience developing REST APIs using languages such as Node.js, Java, Python, or Go.
• Good knowledge of microservices architecture.
• Hands-on experience with API security protocols (OAuth2, JWT, OpenID Connect).
• Experience working with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Knowledge of CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions.
• Strong understanding of API lifecycle management and monitoring tools.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Kong plugins and custom plugin development.
• Knowledge of service mesh or API management platforms.
• Experience with Terraform or Infrastructure as Code.
• Familiarity with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK stack.
