Minimum experience/skills:
Some hands-on coding experience through internships, academic projects, research, technical analyst work, or early professional experience.
Basic familiarity with software development concepts such as APIs, structured data, and system-to-system data exchange.
Some SQL experience and comfort working with data.
Demonstrated ability to learn new tools, technologies, and technical patterns quickly.
Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.
Strong communication skills and willingness to ask questions, take direction, and incorporate feedback.
Ability to work in a regulated environment with strong attention to privacy, security, and operational guardrails.
Interest in contributing to a mission-driven public-sector technology environment.
Preferred experience/skills:

Internship, fellowship, or early-career experience supporting production systems, integrations, or operational workflows.
Exposure to healthcare, payer, human services, government, or other regulated data environments.
Familiarity with APIs, JSON, and troubleshooting data flows.
Experience contributing to technical projects with concrete outcomes.
Exposure to sensitive data environments, including HIPAA-governed contexts, is a plus.
Experience working with legacy systems, enterprise platforms, or existing codebases is a plus.
