Job Title: WebSphere to Liberty Application Modernization Engineer (Resident Engineer)

Alternate Titles: WAS to Liberty Migration Engineer / Java Application Modernization Engineer / Enterprise Java Migration Engineer

Location: Remote

Duration: 12+ Months Contract

Rate: $60/hr on C2C

Visa:  Expect OPT,CPT,GC Any visa is fine 

Experience: 10+ Years

Job Responsibilities:

Migrate enterprise Java applications from Traditional IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS) to Open Liberty/WebSphere Liberty.

Analyze application code and configurations and perform code remediation where necessary.

Design and execute application modernization and migration strategies.

Install, configure, upgrade, and support WebSphere Liberty environments.

Build, deploy, troubleshoot, and optimize Java applications on Liberty.

Perform performance tuning, health checks, and production support.

Work closely with application teams, architects, IBM delivery teams, and client stakeholders.

Create migration documentation, technical guides, and operational runbooks.

Conduct knowledge transfer sessions and support production deployments.

Required Skills:

10+ years of Java application development experience.

Strong hands-on experience with IBM WebSphere Application Server (Traditional WAS).

Proven experience migrating applications from Traditional WAS to Open Liberty/WebSphere Liberty.

Strong Java, Java EE/Jakarta EE development and debugging skills.

Enterprise application modernization experience.

Application deployment, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.

Experience working directly with customer application teams.

Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Preferred Skills:

IBM Transformation Advisor (TA)

IBM Application Modernization Accelerator (AMA)

IBM Bob

CI/CD and DevOps experience

Enterprise-scale Java modernization programs

Resident Engineer or Embedded Consultant experience
