Job Description

Role – JAMS Automation Engineer

Duration: 6+ Months

Year of Experience: 6 - 8 Years

Type: Contract

 

Role Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled JAMS Automation Engineer responsible for automating repeatable processes across public cloud and on-premises datacenter environments to improve operational efficiency and reliability. The ideal candidate will develop, maintain, optimize, and support automation workflows while ensuring high availability of enterprise scheduling and automation platforms.

This role requires strong expertise in PowerShell scripting, cloud technologies, database automation, and enterprise job scheduling tools.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, validate, and maintain PowerShell scripts for automation workflows and manage source control for change management.
  • Create and maintain a dynamic inventory of all JAMS Scheduler jobs.
  • Monitor, manage, and maintain databases to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Create and monitor Azure SQL Elastic Jobs for automated database operations.
  • Maintain a JAMS incident tracker to log warnings, errors, escalations, and resolutions.
  • Update job properties, schedules, and source code as directed by job owners.
  • Proactively monitor the health and execution status of all JAMS jobs.
  • Troubleshoot job failures, implement corrective actions, or escalate issues when necessary.
  • Create and manage Service Desk incidents related to JAMS Scheduler job failures and maintain resolution documentation/knowledge base.
  • Install and support JAMS client tools, reporting tools, software updates, and patches.
  • Coordinate with JAMS vendors and procurement teams regarding license renewals and support agreements.
  • Participate in IT projects involving automation workflow development and implementation.
  • Build, administer, monitor, and maintain JAMS Enterprise Scheduler and System Center Orchestrator environments.
  • Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to assess automation requirements and solutions.
  • Develop integrations between systems using REST APIs for reporting and data analysis.
  • Maintain automation platforms, apply updates, patches, and enforce change control procedures.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve automation runbook and workflow issues.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement approved automation enhancements.
  • Research and evaluate emerging automation and cloud technologies.
  • Ensure automation workflows remain operational and available 24/7.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and IT teams.

 

Requirements

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Infrastructure and/or Cloud Technology environments.
  • Strong expertise in Microsoft PowerShell scripting.
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Microsoft Windows Server 2012–2019
    • Microsoft SQL Server 2012–2025
    • Microsoft Azure services
    • Azure SQL Databases
    • JSON scripting
    • REST API integrations
  • Experience with cloud databases such as:
    • MariaDB
    • PostgreSQL
    • Cosmos DB
    • MongoDB
  • Experience monitoring and maintaining enterprise automation workflows and job schedulers.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to continuous learning.

 

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with JAMS Enterprise Manager.
  • Experience with Azure SQL Elastic Job Agent.
  • Experience with Microsoft System Center Orchestrator 2012 or later.
  • Azure or AWS certifications.
  • Knowledge of enterprise automation best practices and change management processes.
  • Experience working in 24/7 production support environments.

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology or a related field preferred.
