IBM Sterling OMS Support Engineer / Lead

 

Location: Katy, TX (Houston Metro) Hybrid – 4 to 5 days/week onsite
Duration: Long Term


Interview Process: 1–2 internal rounds + 1 client round

 

Must-Have Skills

  • IBM Sterling OMS
  • Production support processes & tools: ServiceNow, Jira, Splunk, Dynatrace

Technology Stack

  • Languages/Frameworks: Java, Spring Boot, Python
  • OMS: IBM Sterling OMS

Role Overview (Sustain / Production Support)

This role focuses on ensuring stability, performance, and continuous improvement of OMS and related systems in a retail environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Resolve production issues within defined SLAs
  • Enhance observability, monitoring, and alerting across systems
  • Provide BAU support and ensure readiness for sale/peak events
  • Prepare systems for high-traffic retail events
  • Automate manual processes to reduce operational effort
  • Develop utilities for business operations (order creation, status updates, validations, etc.)
  • Perform end-to-end system validation for functionality and data accuracy

 

Core Capabilities Required

  • Strong debugging skills across:
  • Java / Spring Boot applications
  • IBM Sterling OMS
  • External integrations (Yantriks, Listrak, payment systems, etc.)
  • Analytical problem-solving across distributed systems
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring tools:
  • Splunk, Dynatrace, SolarWinds, Grafana
  • Strong SQL skills (DB2, MySQL) + exposure to NoSQL (Firestore, BigQuery)
  • Ability to quickly learn new tools and technologies
  • Retail domain knowledge (supply chain & fulfillment)
  • Performance testing monitoring and issue resolution
  • Utility development using Java, Python, or Shell scripting
  • System infrastructure optimization

 

Incident Management & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Hands-on experience with Jira and ServiceNow
  • Understand and resolve daily operational challenges
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Regular stakeholder communication:
  • Daily sync with client managers
  • Weekly reviews with partner teams (Manager/Director level)
  • Weekly leadership updates (VP/CIO level)
  • Lead peak readiness planning and execution
  • Coordinate with third-party vendors/services
  • Drive incident bridges with internal and external stakeholders
