IBM Sterling OMS Support Engineer / Lead
Location: Katy, TX (Houston Metro) Hybrid – 4 to 5 days/week onsite
Duration: Long Term
Interview Process: 1–2 internal rounds + 1 client round

Role Overview (Sustain / Production Support)
This role focuses on ensuring stability, performance, and continuous improvement of OMS and related systems in a retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Resolve production issues within defined SLAs
- Enhance observability, monitoring, and alerting across systems
- Provide BAU support and ensure readiness for sale/peak events
- Prepare systems for high-traffic retail events
- Automate manual processes to reduce operational effort
- Develop utilities for business operations (order creation, status updates, validations, etc.)
- Perform end-to-end system validation for functionality and data accuracy
Core Capabilities Required
- Strong debugging skills across:
- Java / Spring Boot applications
- IBM Sterling OMS
- External integrations (Yantriks, Listrak, payment systems, etc.)
- Analytical problem-solving across distributed systems
- Hands-on experience with monitoring tools:
- Splunk, Dynatrace, SolarWinds, Grafana
- Strong SQL skills (DB2, MySQL) + exposure to NoSQL (Firestore, BigQuery)
- Ability to quickly learn new tools and technologies
- Retail domain knowledge (supply chain & fulfillment)
- Performance testing monitoring and issue resolution
- Utility development using Java, Python, or Shell scripting
- System infrastructure optimization
Incident Management & Stakeholder Engagement
- Hands-on experience with Jira and ServiceNow
- Understand and resolve daily operational challenges
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Regular stakeholder communication:
- Daily sync with client managers
- Weekly reviews with partner teams (Manager/Director level)
- Weekly leadership updates (VP/CIO level)
- Lead peak readiness planning and execution
- Coordinate with third-party vendors/services
- Drive incident bridges with internal and external stakeholders
