Ibm Mq Administrator / Websphere Administrator

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced IBM MQ Administrator / WebSphere Administrator to manage, maintain, and optimize enterprise messaging infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience administering IBM MQ (WebSphere MQ) environments, ensuring high availability, security, performance, and reliability across development, testing, and production environments. The candidate will work closely with application development, infrastructure, and security teams to support enterprise messaging solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, administer, and maintain IBM MQ (WebSphere MQ) environments.
• Manage MQ Queue Managers, Queues, Channels, Listeners, and Clusters.
• Administer Development, QA, UAT, and Production messaging environments.
• Monitor MQ infrastructure and proactively resolve performance, availability, and connectivity issues.
• Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, and optimization of MQ environments.
• Configure and maintain High Availability (HA), clustering, and failover solutions.
• Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures for MQ infrastructure.
• Manage MQ security, including SSL/TLS, LDAP integration, authentication, authorization, and access controls.
• Automate administrative tasks using Shell, Python, PowerShell, or Bash scripting.
• Support application teams with MQ integrations, deployments, and troubleshooting.
• Work closely with infrastructure, middleware, networking, and security teams during production releases.
• Monitor system health using enterprise monitoring tools.
• Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and configuration standards.
• Participate in production support, incident management, root cause analysis, and on-call rotations when required.
• Recommend process improvements and automation to improve system reliability and operational efficiency. 

Required Skills

• 12+ years of IT experience with at least 7+ years of IBM MQ Administration.
• Strong hands-on experience with IBM MQ (WebSphere MQ).
• Experience administering WebSphere Application Server (WAS).
• Strong understanding of Queue Managers, Channels, Queues, Listeners, and MQ Clustering.
• Experience with High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) configurations.
• Strong experience with Linux, UNIX, AIX, and Windows environments.
• Experience with Shell Scripting, Bash, Python, or PowerShell automation.
• Knowledge of SSL/TLS, LDAP, certificates, and MQ security implementation.
• Experience with performance tuning and troubleshooting messaging environments.
• Knowledge of backup and recovery procedures.
• Experience supporting enterprise production environments.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills. 

Preferred Skills

• Experience with IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE) or IBM Integration Bus (IIB).
• Exposure to Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Experience with enterprise monitoring tools such as Splunk, AppDynamics, Dynatrace, or IBM Tivoli.
• Knowledge of DevOps tools such as Jenkins, Ansible, Git, or Terraform.
• Experience working in Banking or Financial Services environments.
• Familiarity with ITIL processes and ServiceNow. 

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Equivalent professional experience will also be considered. 

Nice to Have

• IBM MQ Administration Certification.
• WebSphere Application Server Administration experience.
• Middleware administration experience in large enterprise environments.
• Cloud exposure (AWS, Azure, or OpenShift/Kubernetes) is a plus.
