Department Overview
The Best Buy Product Data Management (PDM) team builds and maintains systems that ingest, manage, and publish product data used across Best Buy eCommerce and enterprise platforms. The team is highly collaborative and follows Extreme Programming (XP) practices to deliver high-quality software efficiently.
Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Full Stack Developer with a strong backend focus to join an agile XP team. This role is 100% pair programming and Test-Driven Development (TDD). The ideal candidate is collaborative, open to feedback, comfortable with failure as part of learning, and willing to communicate openly within a diverse team.
This role is primarily backend (≈95%), with occasional frontend work using React.


Key Responsibilities
Build and support scalable, high-performance distributed systems
Develop backend services primarily using Python and Groovy
Practice pair programming, TDD, ATDD, and aggressive refactoring
Participate in CI/CD pipeline development and automation
Collaborate closely with teammates through daily pairing and rotations
Ensure software quality without a dedicated QA team
Communicate clearly, ask questions, and leverage teammates when needed


Required Skills (Top Non-Negotiables)
Strong hands-on experience with Python
Experience with Groovy
Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines
Backend service development experience (REST, HTTP)
Experience with pair programming and/or strong willingness to work in an XP environment
