We are seeking a highly experienced Data & AI Architect for a 6-month contract engagement with a leading News Group. This is a hybrid role based in Midtown Manhattan (Rockefeller Plaza), requiring 3 days onsite. The role demands strong communication skills and the ability to engage with C-level stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will define and implement end-to-end data and AI architecture, covering ingestion, transformation, curation, and AI enablement. You will drive taxonomy, ontology, metadata, and semantic modeling strategies to enhance data discoverability, governance, and AI use cases. Additionally, you will establish data onboarding standards, SLAs, and quality frameworks to ensure operational excellence.

This is a hands-on role requiring expertise in Databricks (Lakehouse/Medallion architecture) and AWS, along with strong experience in data governance, distributed processing, and data modeling. Candidates must also have exposure to AI/LLM technologies such as RAG, vector databases, and prompt orchestration.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams to create reusable frameworks, remove bottlenecks, and deliver measurable outcomes. This role is ideal for a pragmatic, execution-focused architect who can translate strategy into action quickly.
