Responsibilities
Analyze and document existing print-related COBOL copybooks and CTG programs.
Design and implement a cohesive structure to reduce copybook complexity.
Develop and unit test CICS and batch COBOL programs.
Collaborate with open systems teams to define handoff points, data formatting, and return codes.
Support the creation of test suites and test applications for new tooling.
Assist in the installation and validation of new/updated copybooks across development, clone, and production environments.
Participate in the migration planning and execution for application teams.
Support the decommissioning of legacy spooler systems post-migration.
Mentor junior contractors and contribute to knowledge transfer.
Skills Must have
5+ years of hands-on COBOL development experience in a mainframe environment.
Strong knowledge of CICS, JCL, and VSAM.

Experience with CTG (CICS Transaction Gateway) programs and integration with non-mainframe systems.
Familiarity with spooler systems and print processing in mainframe environments.
Ability to reverse engineer and document legacy systems.
Strong debugging and unit testing skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Nice to have
Experience working in financial services or regulated industries.
Exposure to SCCM tooling and Universal Spooler (a plus).
Prior experience with modernization or migration projects.
