Cisco Network Design Architect

We are seeking an experienced Cisco Network Design Architect to join the team supporting the University of Maryland Medical Systems. This is a high-level architect position (not a senior network engineer role) focused on designing and implementing advanced enterprise network solutions. The ideal candidate must have excellent communication skills, proven expertise in Cisco networking, and the ability to scope and architect complex network projects in a healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Scope and design network aspects of new projects, including:
  • Rack space and power requirements
  • Switch/Router specifications
  • POE requirements
  • Port speeds and uplink optics
  • Routing design (BGP/EIGRP)
  • QoS and Multicast design
  • Campus VXLAN deployments
• Provide network architecture oversight from design through implementation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with regulatory and security requirements.
• Deliver high-quality documentation, diagrams, and architectural recommendations.
• Ensure seamless integration with firewalls, load balancers, and network services.

Required Skills & Experience

• Cisco Networking (Route/Switch/Wireless) – CCNP or higher 
• Strong network architecture and design experience
• Expertise with Palo Alto Networks firewalls
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Previous experience in Healthcare Network Environments
• Knowledge of F5 Load Balancers
• Familiarity with Cisco ISE
• Experience with Infoblox
