As/400 Cobol Developer

Job Overview:

We are looking for an experienced AS/400 COBOL Developer with 10+ years of hands-on experience in IBM iSeries application development and support. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in AS/400, COBOL, RPG/RPGLE, DB2, and SQL, with a proven ability to maintain, enhance, and troubleshoot legacy business applications. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to support critical systems while contributing to modernization initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, maintain, and enhance AS/400 applications using COBOL, RPG, and RPGLE.
• Support business-critical legacy applications by troubleshooting and resolving production issues.
• Design, optimize, and maintain DB2 databases and write efficient SQL queries.
• Analyze and resolve complex batch processing and interactive application issues.
• Collaborate with development and modernization teams to integrate IBM i applications with newer technologies.
• Participate in application enhancements, testing, deployments, and ongoing production support.
• Follow Agile methodologies, including Scrum or Kanban, throughout the development lifecycle.
• Document technical solutions and provide support during system upgrades and releases.

Qualifications:

• xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx+ years of experience developing and supporting AS/400 (IBM iSeries) applications.
• Strong programming experience with COBOL, RPG/RPGLE, CL, and SQL.
• Hands-on experience working with DB2 databases, including query optimization and performance tuning.
• Solid understanding of batch processing, job scheduling, and interactive applications on IBM i.
• Experience with application maintenance, debugging, and production support.
• Familiarity with CI/CD practices and deployment processes in the IBM i environment.
• Working knowledge of Agile development methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and technical documentation.
