Strength Engineer

Job Description

• Develop strength and durability performance of vehicle frame, body, and chassis (suspension, axle, bushing) through prediction, evaluation, and analysis.
• Prediction: Analytical (hand calculation, design review) and CAE (FEA, MBD, other simulations) methods.
• Evaluation: Vehicle input load measurements and bench tests (static and fatigue), by collaborating with technician team members.
• Analysis: Data organization and visualization to extract trends, fatigue life calculation, failure analysis, etc.
• Solve problems and develop countermeasures to achieve strength and durability performance targets according to vehicle development schedule.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 2 years’ experience working as an engineer (including industry co-op/internship, SAE project team leader, etc.).
• Completed academic coursework in solid mechanics engineering (strength of materials, stress/strain/deflection, static and fatigue failure theories, structures and joining, vibrations) and system dynamics.

General Requirements

• Experience with engineering experimentation (planning, measurements, statistical analysis, reporting).
• Experience with commercial FEA pre-processors, solvers, and post-processors.

Preferred

• Experience contributing to a project as a member of a diverse team.
