Sr QA automation Engineer for the Dept Of State program in Herndon, VA. This is a Hybrid role with 2-3 days in Herndon office with a active Secret Clerance.

Responsibilities:
Design, maintain, and extend a Cypress + Cucumber (JS) automation framework to improve coverage and reliability.
Develop and optimize end-to-end and regression suites with readable Gherkin scenarios and reusable step definitions.
Implement resilient UI automation using stable selectors, robust waits, and anti-flake patterns.
Integrate automated tests into CI/CD (pipeline triggers, parallel runs, reporting) for rapid feedback and traceability.
Troubleshoot automation failures, partner with dev/QA/product to prioritize fixes and expand Selenium + Java coverage for cross-browser/legacy flows.
Qualifications:
Hands-on experience building UI automation with Cypress + JavaScript and BDD using Cucumber/Gherkin.
Strong understanding of test automation design patterns, framework structure, and maintainable code practices.
Experience creating repeatable test runs with test data management (fixtures, API seeding, cleanup).
CI/CD experience integrating automated tests with clear reporting (e.g., Jenkins/GitHub Actions/Azure DevOps).
Working knowledge of Selenium + Java for cross-browser testing and legacy UI automation support.
