Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer with deep expertise in COBOL, CICS, DB2, VSAM, and JCL. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining mainframe applications for high-volume enterprise systems, supporting both batch and online transaction processing.

The candidate should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, financial services environment, integrating with APIs and middleware, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL for batch and online processing.
• Write, debug, and schedule jobs using JCL to ensure reliable batch operations.
• Design, develop, and optimize DB2 SQL queries, stored procedures, and performance tuning.
• Manage and maintain VSAM files (KSDS, ESDS, RRDS) for high-performance data access.
• Develop CICS applications for online transaction processing.
• Support IMS DB / IMS DC for database and transaction management (if project requires).
• Write and maintain Rexx scripts for automation and batch processing.
• Work with MQ Series / WebSphere MQ for messaging and integration.
• Integrate mainframe applications with external systems using REST/SOAP APIs via middleware.
• Participate in DevOps initiatives for mainframe, including CI/CD pipelines and automation where applicable.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production issues.
• Collaborate with project teams, including analysts, testers, and other developers, to ensure timely delivery of solutions.

Mandatory Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with COBOL (batch and online)
• JCL – writing, debugging, and job scheduling
• DB2 – SQL queries, stored procedures, performance tuning
• VSAM – KSDS, ESDS, RRDS file handling
• CICS – online transaction processing
• Rexx scripting

Good to Have Skills

• IMS DB / IMS DC experience
• MQ Series / WebSphere MQ integration
• API / Middleware integration (REST, SOAP)
• DevOps concepts applied to mainframe (CI/CD pipelines)
• Exposure to Agile methodology
