  • Lead Data Engineer – W2 Role
    Location: Onsite – Seattle, WA
    Duration: Long-Term Contract

    Role Overview:


    We are seeking a Lead Data Engineer to drive the design, development, and optimization of large-scale data platforms for Amazon. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with technical leadership, owning end-to-end data pipelines and guiding engineering best practices across teams.

    Key Responsibilities:


  • Lead the architecture, design, and development of scalable ETL pipelines using AWS Glue
    Own data workflow orchestration using Managed Airflow (MWAA)
    Write, review, and optimize SQL, Python, and PySpark code for high-performance data processing
    Design and manage data platforms using Amazon Redshift, S3, and data lakes
    Implement data governance, security, and cataloging using AWS Glue & Lake Formation
    Mentor and guide junior data engineers; conduct code reviews and enforce best practices
    Partner with analytics and reporting teams to support QuickSight and Tableau
    Drive CI/CD and infrastructure automation using AWS CDK and Amazon Build Tools
    Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize pipelines for performance, reliability, and cost
    Collaborate with product owners, architects, and business stakeholders to define data strategy and requirements

    Required Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field
    6–10+ years of experience in data engineering or ETL development
    Strong hands-on experience with AWS Glue, Redshift, S3, Lake Formation
    Advanced programming skills in SQL, Python, and PySpark
    Proven experience with Managed Airflow (MWAA) or similar orchestration tools
    Strong understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and performance tuning
    Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
    Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills

    Nice to Have:
    Experience leading data engineering teams or initiatives
    Exposure to large-scale enterprise or cloud-native data platforms
    Prior experience with Amazon or similar large tech organizations
