Title: Cognos Analytics Consultant / SME

SCOPE OF WORK:
Should have current experience with IBM Cognos Analytics platform, including its existing data models, reports, and workflows, with the goal of developing a high-level transition plan to future state technology (for example, Microsoft Fabric and Power BI, or a more optimal solution within the Azure ecosystem).
 

Cognos Assessment Objectives:
• Assess the current Cognos environment: architecture, usage, report inventory, data volume and usage metrics, security and access controls, infrastructure and IT landscape.
• Reporting requirements: report inventory and categorization, data source mapping, user access and security, interactive features and dashboards, exporting and distribution needs, compliance and governance.
• Identify pain points, gaps, and modernization opportunities.
• Evaluate how the current Cognos setup aligns with the capabilities of Microsoft Azure solution, identifying opportunities and limitations.
• Evaluate compatibility with Microsoft Fabric components (e.g., OneLake, Synapse, Power BI).
• Findings from the assessment and analysis should be translated into actionable recommendations and a high-level migration plan.
• Present a projected timeline and detailed roadmap for implementation.
• Present a training plan for existing resources to support post-implementation.
 

Deliverables:
• Current State Assessment Report summarizing findings from the Cognos environment.
• A Fit-Gap Analysis Summary comparing Cognos with Azure solution.
• A proposed Future-State Architecture Diagram outlining the recommended solution.
• A Roadmap with milestones and estimated timelines for transition.
• A Training Plan for existing resources.
• A comprehensive Final Presentation to key stakeholders with recommendations and next steps.
